Laboratory Medicine is looking for a biomedical analyst
Region Västerbotten works to ensure that good health and sustainable development strengthen each other. We take responsibility for equitable welfare and for research and innovation to yield results.
Laboratory Medicine is a regional organization with operations in Lycksele, Skellefteå, and Umeå, employing approximately 520 staff in clinical genetics, clinical immunology and transfusion medicine, clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, and clinical pathology. Biobanking, healthcare hygiene, and tissue establishment are also included in Laboratory Medicine, and our operations are accredited.
The Clinical Immunology and Transfusion Medicine Department consists of three sections, one of which is Clinical Immunology. Within Clinical Immunology, there are areas such as immunology, stem cell lab, and tissue typing lab.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
At the stem cell and tissue typing laboratory, hematopoietic stem cells are handled in clean rooms, and cells are thawed for transplantation on the care ward. The work is carried out in close collaboration with patient treatment teams that harvest the cells and the transplantation coordinators at the Cancer Center.
Before transplantation, HLA typing of patients and donors is performed using NGS and PCR. To monitor transplanted patients, chimerism studies are conducted using real-time PCR and fragment analysis. HLA-related disease associations are also analyzed using PCR.
In the clinical immunology department, samples are analyzed for autoimmunity, immunodeficiencies, and allergies. Methods used include ELISA, immunofluorescence, ImmunoCap, nephelometry, and immunology. Based on needs, training will occur in several placements, starting at the stem cell and tissue typing laboratory.
QUALIFICATIONS
You are a licensed biomedical analyst, biomedicine graduate, or have another equivalent three-year scientific higher education as assessed by the employer.
Experience in clinical laboratory work is meritorious, and you should have good knowledge of Swedish. As a person, you are solution-oriented, meticulous, stress-resistant, and possess good communication skills.
You enjoy both independent work and collaborating in a team and have the ability to see the bigger picture. As there is a constant development of the operations, we expect you to enjoy working on method development. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
